toll both worker. that happened 10 times at this toll lawser in the last -- plaza in the last year. at the carquinez bridge toll plaza with armed robbers hit the location repeatedly. >> they were hard to identify. >> reporter: he says three men have now been identified and arrested. robert larry white, christopher lee miller, david joseph morales. the chp believes they are responsible for 3-10 robberies here at the carquinez bridge toll plaza. the investigation was difficult because they used stolen cars. investigators had help from the police department in finding suspects through the use of record checks on traffic stops. and a series of car burglaries led the sherriff's department

jose for a hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian last night night. he was crossing the street around 5:45 p.m. when a suv or van hit him. the driver of the suv kept going southbound on white road. they took the man to the hospital where he died. neighbors are upset. >> i think it is sad. you know, i -- i see that too much and i read about it and i don't like it. >> they have not released the victim's identity. a man was arrested after what would have been a routine traffic stop resulted in a crash that shut down an intersection for hours. >> the man crashed his car around 3:30 a.m. south of market district. it happened after police tried to pull him over. the man was trying to speed

guys. >> reporter: her brother found her long burns side road where they were trapped in the snow last thursday. her family says her boyfriend left the vehicle for help. and she left for hospital. the doctor is treating her for only the most mild form of frost bite. >> she was one very lucky person. >> reporter: she hinted at the ways she staid alive. a stop they had made before getting stuck proved life saving. >> before they went they stopped by family homes and got tomatoes. so she sustained on tomatoes and hiding out in a hollow tree. she couldn't make it so she had a blanket and tomatoes.

dismissed the remaining charges. john mcafee issued a plea for the public's help after authorities in guatemala refused to grant him political asylum. his attorney said they would appeal. john mcafee was taken to a hospital in guatemala after suffering chest pains. he hasn't suffered a heart attack. john mcafee was arrested in guatemala yesterday. officials want to question him about the shooting death of his neighbor. berkeley police released the identity of a woman killed tuesday night while riding her bike. she was shot outside a middle school. there is no word on any suspects in the case. police are looking into a

the white house budget office ordthered pentagon to prepy -- ordered the pentagon to start preparing for spending cuts. the san francisco based california institute for medicine has distributed a billion dollars in bond money for stem cell research. the review found too many members of the board are from schools that won funding. they recommended a restructuring to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest. apple and samsung went head to head again over some of its most prized patents. ktvu's ann rubin is live. >> reporter: the judge said she would prefer if both sides went back to the negotiating table but will rule if she has to. neither side is happy. samsung is fighting a judgment

against them, apple says they should pay that and more. it stems from a trial over whether they copied apple technology. the jury sided with apple but the company believes it didn't go far enough and it should require some projects be taken off the market. samsung doesn't like the judgment either. they argue it should be revised that the jury used incorrect standards to determine the amount and they believe the foreman had a conflict of interest. experts have been following the case and believe it is far from over. >> once a party lose a jury verdict it is a very tough hill to climb. there is another bite of the apple, no pun intended. >> the judge will issue orders

200 u.s. house members are swapping office space. in some cases moves have to be made. another senior member of congress says she is moving for another prettier view and staffers say some want offices offices for more stattier. this could be costing taxpayer money. there are 6,000 pieces of furniture and when members move, the furniture gets moved with them, lot of money and man power spent on this office shifting. it will cost $600,000 this month ago. >> one wimbledoners if it is necessary -- wonders if it is necessary. their money is being spent so a congressman can move down the hall to make him feel better
